Description

The Association of Friends of the Arago Laboratory (AALA) presents the documentary: ‘Cultiver la pluie’. Wednesday 22 July, 6.00 pm – Arago Laboratory Amphitheatre. The documentary (2025) will be presented by the director: Marc Khanne. MARC KHANNE, Writer and Director Marc Khanne has been making films for over 30 years. Around fifteen of his films have won awards or been broadcast on television. After making a number of short films, followed by documentaries on the AZF factory explosion in Toulouse and an oil spill in Galicia, he turned his attention to documentary filmmaking. His films explore environmental issues, such as a historic reforestation project in the 19th century; agropastoralism, transhumance and wolves; regional languages such as Occitan; health issues including electrosensitivity; and politics, with an immersive look at the Yellow Vests movement. He enjoys conducting investigations, with one foot in the complexity of reality and the other in cinema, whilst striving to prioritise the human element and positive solutions. *Cultiver la pluie* (Cultivating Rain), accompanied by a book of the same name published by Terre vivante, is the latest example of this. Among others, the book features the botanist Francis Hallé, well known to all forest conservationists.
