FEUX DE LA SAINT JEAN - FOCS DE SANT JOAN

Traditional festival, Aplec (Sardana dance festival), Cultural, Country, Traditions and folklore in Banyuls-sur-Mer
  • Focs de Sant Joan organised in collaboration with El Foment de la sardana, Le Comité des Fêtes and the town of Banyuls-sur-Mer.

    From 4pm: The Sant Joan flame will be displayed in front of the Town Hall.
    From 6.30pm: A sardana ballada will be performed in the Place Paul Reig by the Sol de Banyuls Cobla.
    7.00 pm: Our friends from Espolla and Rabos in southern Catalonia come to collect the flame, which will be presented to them at a ceremony in front of the Town Hall. Els Segadors hymn...

    9:30pm: Children from local associations are invited to march down to the beach to light the bonfire. Meeting point at 9.30pm in front of the beach pharmacy.
    10.00 pm: The flame will then arrive by sea on Catalan boats in the Bay of Banyuls.
    10.30pm: Catalan dance by the cobla Sol de Banyuls, Place Paul Reig.

    Traditional aniseed bread with a glass of Banyuls will be served on the seafront. Refreshments will be provided by the Town Hall for younger visitors. The Foment will be offering St John's Day bouquets to bring you happiness throughout the year!
