Observe the marine fauna and flora at the arcades

Get your fins, masks and snorkels to observe the underwater fauna and flora! The coast of Banyuls and its clear waters is the ideal playground for snorkelers. No need to go far from the beach to come face to face with fish!

During your swims, don’t forget your flippers, your mask and your snorkel! Thanks to the proximity of the Cerbère-Banyuls marine nature reserve, from the Banyuls beaches, you will be able to observe a varied underwater fauna and flora.

As soon as you get your head under water, you will be in your own bubble, one on one with the local marine fauna! While swimming along the rocks, keep your eyes open, you will certainly see some collards… They are very good at hiding so take the time to explore everything! At the bottom of the water, the posidonia meadows are home to a wide variety of animal species. You will easily come across sars, sea breams and for the lucky ones, merous!

However, let’s not forget that this environment is fragile and must be respected and preserved.

Jewel of the Côte Vermeille, the Marine Nature Reserve stretches between Banyuls and Cerbère. A paradise for swimmers and diving enthusiasts, this protected natural area is the first Marine Nature Reserve in France. Come and meet fish, octopus, seahorses… To amaze the little ones, before going to learn more at the Aquarium!

We tell you everything!
