Our experiences

Make your "llaca" in the cool

evening in the city

If there’s one thing every Banyulcan loves to do, it’s this: do his “llaca” on the seafront. The llaca (pronounced “yaqua”) is translated here as walk.

To each his own

In the evening, “a la fresca” (= cool, in Catalan), after a hot summer day when the sea air rises, walking along the seafront is an institution. Some people prefer to do it in the morning at first light when the village is still asleep; others will enjoy the bustle of children’s scooters and bicycles in the middle of the afternoon.

How

Live this moment?

Practice

The waterfront is accessible to all, all the way to the Aristide Maillol War Memorial, overlooking Ile Grosse (port).

Stroller and PMR information

From the Monument, there are a few steps down to the end of the pier. The War Memorial is not accessible to strollers and wheelchairs because there are stairs.

Security

On sea and stormy days, you will not be able to access the Monument or the pier, a gate closes the access after the Harbour Master’s Office.

L’art de vivre Banyulenc

Whatever your moment, the route remains the same (in one direction or the other!): departure from the arcades > arrival to the port and for the bravest to the pier itself! This allows you to meet friends and family, to “xarer” (pronounced “tcharer”, translated as chat) for a few minutes with them and the elders, gathered on the “senators’ bench” and above all to enjoy the fresh sea air and the beauty of the landscape that is offered to our eyes.
