"BOULEVARD" by Roger PAYROT's Compagnie du TURURUT

Initially, it was to be 12 monologues for one actress, but as the work progressed, the play became 9 monologues and 1 dialogue, for 6 actresses and 1 actor. They play a dozen characters, ranging in age from twelve to seventy-two. They take it in turns to monologue, to soliloquise, to try to interest an absent or mute interlocutor, to come out of the wardrobe where cruel life has locked them up. A broom cupboard or a lover's cupboard, as in this boulevard comedy in which they have taken part, as actors, spectators or directors, without actually meeting each other. Some are funny, some acidic, some moving, all consumed by loneliness and humiliation.
