Description
The Parcé brothers, Marc and Thierry, come from a family of winegrowers going back several generations, and founded Domaine de la Rectorie in 1984.
Today, the estate is run by Thierry and his son Jean Emmanuel. The estate's name is linked to the historic Romanesque chapel of La Rectorie, in Banyuls-sur-Mer, which was a favourite haunt of Léon Parcé, Marc and Thierry's grandfather.
The estate is made up of around thirty plots at different exposures and altitudes, part of the extreme Banyuls terroir where the vines overlook the Mediterranean Sea in terraces on steep slopes. The soils are poor, Cambrian schist in a very thin layer of sandy clay resting on the parent rock.
The grape varieties are mainly Grenache in its three colours, Carignan, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The low-yielding grapes are harvested by hand.
