When we think of Baroque music, we think of Bach, Handel, Rameau or Vivaldi, in other words those marvellous European composers of the 18th century. In fact, it was in Italy, in the first half of the previous century, that the Baroque explosion took place: opera with Caccini, Peri and Monteverdi, oratorio with Carissimi, the renewal of instrumental writing with Gastoldi and keyboard composition with Frescobaldi. This was followed by the international success of vocality, melodrama and instrumental variation. It is this field that the ensemble 'Orfeo futuro' explores with passion and relevance. Founded in 2010 in Puglia, the ancient region of Apulia, it has given hundreds of concerts in Italy, of course, but also in most European countries.

On Sunday 7 September at 4pm, in the church of Saint Jean Baptiste in Banyuls sur Mer, it will feature Angelica Disanto, soprano, Gioacchino de Padova, viola da gamba, Gabriele Natilla, guitar, theorbo and lute, Giovanni Rota and Valerio Latartara, violins, and Michele Visaggi, harpsichord. Alain Marinaro's friends are delighted to bring you this remarkable ensemble, which we owe to our links with the Friends of 'Mare Nostum Musicae'.
