In 2025, the musical world celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel. The Association des amis d'Alain Marinaro was duty-bound to celebrate this immense French composer. However, various constraints have delayed the event, and it is only on Saturday 3 January 2026 at 4pm that we will finally be able to hold this celebration at the Salle Novelty in Banyuls/Mer.
This concert, which will launch the rich winter season, brings together four wonderful artists from our region: pianist Angéline Pondepeyre, singer Magali Bourgarel, violinist Martin Brunschwig and cellist Christine Mourlevat-Brunschwig. When they met recently, they found an immediate harmony and musical understanding, and have already given a number of concerts, always to great acclaim! This time, they will be showcasing some of Ravel's most admirable pieces: his famous trio for piano, violin and cello, a magnificent work composed in Saint-Jean de Luz in 1914 and a perfect reflection of the creator's world of subtlety, shimmer and impressionistic iridescence... Then Magali Bourgarel will sing the five popular Greek melodies, a collection of tasty folk songs harmonised by Ravel with genius. And to finish, the artists will all come together for Shéhérazade, three melodies based on texts by Tristan Klingsor, which plunge the listener into the midst of a "thousand and one nights"! Ravel often spoke of the profound charm that the Orient had exerted on him since childhood. He did not translate it so often into music, so let's not miss the opportunity to discover these three splendours, served up with talent by highly expressive musicians.
