The CCAS

The Centre Communal d’Action Sociale (CCAS) is a public institution, administered by a Board of Directors chaired by the Mayor. In addition to its President, the Board of Directors of the CCAS of Banyuls-sur-Mer has 16 members.

The CCAS of Banyuls has the particularity of having, in addition to its social mission, a patrimony to manage following the legacy of Paul Reig, a rich rentier who left a set of properties composed of buildings, vineyards, olive groves and other moors…

Competences of the CCAS in social matters
The CCAS intervenes either following a direct request from people who need its help, or upon referral from the social services; it works in close collaboration with the services of the General Council and more specifically with the Social House of Argelès-sur-Mer.

Main functions of the service

In terms of legal social assistance
The CCAS participates in the establishment of social or medical aid applications such as
– application for the Active Solidarity Income (RSA),
– application for basic or complementary Universal Health Coverage (CMU),
– application for Personalized Autonomy Allowance (APA),
– applications to the Maisons Départementale des Personnes Handicapées (MDPH),
– application for HLM housing…

The CCAS welcomes and directs people in difficulty to the appropriate organizations,

> It provides these organizations with an office where they can hold regular or occasional meetings.

> Domiciliation of the persons without stable residence fulfilling the conditions fixed by the regulation.

In terms of optional social assistance.
> The CCAS implements a general social action of prevention and social development in the municipality by intervening through various benefits, playing a coordinating role in close liaison with services and institutions of a social nature. It takes over and completes, if necessary, the compulsory aid allocations with optional benefits provided for in its “optional social aid regulations” (document available for consultation at the CCAS office, at the Town Hall).

The CCAS has housing or premises that it rents to individuals or associations.

Non-built
The CCAS directly operates part of its wine estate planted with the various grape varieties of the Cru.
It offers for sale bottles of Collioure and Banyuls labelled with its name (the bottles are sold directly at the CCAS office).
