For those in top shape: the hinterland of Banyuls sur Mer is full of winding forest roads with great views of the valleys and vineyards that can be driven on by bike.
One of these tracks starts at the “Col des Gascons”, a winding road snaking along a cliff overhang for about 20kms passing an important part of the hinterland of Banyuls to arrive in the classified “Roume” Valley, near the “Musée Maillol” via the “Col de Banyuls”: here beautiful views of the valley and the village and historical and natural sites await you.
Very demanding circuit, for well-trained mountain bikers only (altitude difference: 350m).
Besides that part of the “route des Mas” and “circuits de vignobles” (vineyard circuits) can be driven on by bike, a climb on to the "Madeloc" tower balcony and a return trip to Port-Vendres or to Collioure can also be done using the route CD86. Beautiful views of the Vermeille coast and the Roussillon flat countryside appear before you (difference in elevation: approx. 450m).
